There are numerous solid goalkeeping options throughout the Official Fifa World Cup game. Today, I will be looking at the options who are nailed on to play and come with a kind price-tag.

Jasper Cillesen (3m)

There are not very many goalkeepers in the game who seem to provide good value for money. However, Jasper Cillesen of the Netherlands certainly does that and Louis Van Gaal recently claimed that Cillesen was his number one. Despite challenging-looking fixtures against Spain and Chile, it is expected that the Netherlands will keep a clean sheet against goal-shy Australia.

Oretsis Karnezis (2m)

The man from Granada is the undisputed Greek number one in goal, despite playing a bit-part season for his club. He played in all 12 qualifiers for Greece, letting in only  six goals along the way. He is certainly worth considering as a back-up goalkeeping option considering Greece’s defensive solidity. He also has fixtures which do not seem too challenging and he would be expected to keep clean sheets should the Greeks progress through the tournament.

Fatawu Dauda (2m)

Whilst for some time it was up for debate, Fatawu Dauda seems to be the man in possession of Ghana’s starting goalkeeper role. Despite only keeping one clean sheet throughout qualifying, Dauda started six out of the eight qualifying games, and without his vital saves, the Ghanaians may have conceded numerous more goals. With challenging fixtures against Portugal and Germany, he is not expected to keep clean sheets, but Dauda may have to make numerous saves in order to keep his side in the game, which means his price could prove great value for money.

Also Worth Considering

Other goalkeepers in the game who are budget options and are nailed on to start are Honduras’ Noel Valladares (3m) and Cameroon’s Charles Itandje (3m). Both are not expected to keep clean sheets as the fixtures in which they play are challenging, however, they could be forced to make numerous saves, which would help to bolster their scores.
